Früher Ausstellungskatalog der British Institution for Promoting the Fine Arts in The United Kingdom, einer 1805 gegründeten englischen Kunstvereinigung, die Werke lebender und verstorbener Künstler präsentierte. Als erster Leiter der Vereinigung amtierte der Kunsthändler William Seguier, der später auch erster erster Direktor der National Gallery nach deren Gründung 1824 werden sollte. Die "British Institution", auch als British Gallery bezeichnet, veranstaltete jährlich einer Ausstellung mit Werken lebender Künstler im Frühjahr und ab 1813 eine zweite Ausstellung mit Werken alter Meister im Sommer. Ausgestellt wurden bevorzugt Werke der Historien- und Schlachtenmalerei. Early exhibition catalog from the British Institution for Promoting the Fine Arts in The United Kingdom, an English arts association founded in 1805 which presented works by living and deceased artists. The first director of the association was the art dealer William Seguier, who would later become the first director of the National Gallery after it was founded in 1824. The "British Institution", also known as the British Gallery, held an annual exhibition of works by living artists in the spring and, from 1813, a second exhibition of works by old masters in the summer. Works of history and battle painting were preferred.
